Ashley Robinson is the master of self-deprecation. He reckons he has two sorts of luck – bad luck and no luck. As a lifetime resident of the Coast, this former publican has plenty of nostalgic memories to share. What's a bit of biff between roomies?

Heard an interesting story the other day from the Australian Rugby League team camp before they bashed the Kiwis.
The Sydney media were honing in on the fact hard men Willie Mason and Carl Webb were in the same squad, as there was talk of them getting in the ring for charity before they were named as team-mates.
So the very straightforward coach Ricky Stuart decided to make them room-mates with his reasoning that rather than let the media speculate, put them in a room and see what happens.
It was the sooner rather than later attitude, with the only downside being if they did fire up in their 25 square metre room the charity would miss out.
Well it still might, as apparently they got on like a house on fire.
I mentioned last week’s festivities at the Nambour Crushers with the naming of the Wide Bay Team of the Century and the Falcons match against Bundaberg.
James Ward and Mick Plant were the only inclusions in the Wide Bay team from the Coast. Like the other sides it must have been hard to pick comparing eras, and the two guys mentioned are as good as any player I have ever seen on the Coast, but I was disappointed Ray Laird missed out.
The Falcons side against Bundaberg played the best first half I have seen for many years on the Coast and deserved their victory.
I congratulate the QRL for the Toyota Cup format where our guys have the chance to play in front of an Origin crowd if they can tick all the boxes and be the best region in Queensland.
The next box to tick is a big one when they meet Toowoomba this afternoon at Caboolture at 3pm, which will be followed by a full card of local games when the host club plays Kilcoy.
By the way, well done to the Nambour Club last weekend for hosting some great football from early until well into the evening, it was a great effort by the volunteers. I must say I was a little disappointed by the crowd numbers but it was made up for by a bunch of young people who managed to make plenty of noise. They were entertaining all without offending anybody, which is refreshing to see these days.
The Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles have been very supportive of our Toyota Cup side, which is particularly pleasing to see considering their busy schedule.
I heard a whisper that a former NRL and Australian player was getting itchy feet and has been helping out down at Stockland, but any thoughts of a comeback were put to rest the other night when he tore a hamstring while filling in during ball work.
There is plenty of good footy around for all ages this weekend. Take the Caloundra Sharks home game against Bribie tomorrow for instance.
Not only do they have three senior games scheduled, the two clubs have put on an under eights match as the curtain raiser to the main game.
They have rescheduled the day so that at 3pm the little guys will play 15 minutes each way before the A grade runs on.
Not only will they play before the big boys they will also prepare for the game with their respective A grade teams and run on from the dressing rooms.
What a great initiative!
