Artists’ books to be explored

April 28 | Our Bookworms

The ‘artists’ book’ as a visual art genre has been explored extensively over the past 15 years in Australia, whereby Noosa Regional Gallery has been very active in this process by nurturing, promoting and presenting such works for 11 of these years.

The next artists’ books exhibition that Noosa Regional Gallery will present is about bringing back into the spotlight, the traditional book form - the ‘story’ as words or images and how the cover of the book marries the two together.

To source these books, Noosa Regional Gallery is calling for submissions from artists, writers and collaborators to respond to the curatorial concept of exploring the traditional structure of the book and the pivotal relationship between the words and the works.

The exhibition, to open in October this year, will be as much about the words or story within, as the structure and appearance of the book.

For further information and expressions of interest, contact the Curator,
Noosa Regional Gallery 07 5449 5340.

Closing date for submissions is Friday, June 27, 2008.
