While many Queenslanders take a well-earned break over Christmas, it will be business as usual for many real estate agencies across the state.
Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) executive manager Elissa Keenan said many holidaymakers brought their cheque books when they came to visit, particularly those headed for South-East Queensland.
"In the past, Christmas has historically been a slower time for the wider property market but the continued strength of Queensland’s property market means that certainly won’t be the case in many parts of the state over this holiday season," Ms Keenan said.
"Christmas is a popular time for interstate visitors to holiday in Queensland and many visitors are investors who not only use the opportunity to celebrate the festive season with family and friends, but also to scout for property.”
In the state's capital and seaside destinations, agents look forward to the activity that the Christmas holiday season can bring as many sellers choose to list their homes for sale at this time of year.
“With hundreds of holidaymakers falling in love with Queensland's sun, surf and sand during the Christmas holidays, it can be an ideal time to market a property to interstate visitors who might want to buy their own piece of paradise,” Ms Keenan said.
If you’re thinking of buying or selling a property, make sure you choose an REIQ-accredited agency.
“More than 85 per cent of all real estate agencies across the state choose to be members of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ),” Ms Keenan said.
“The REIQ exists to support its more than 2000 member agencies - which in turn employ some 15,000 property professionals - with information, training, products, and resources that complement their business practices.”
