So You Think You Can Dance: And the winner is ...

April 27 | our TV junkies

Daily journalist Nathanael Cooper's live countdown to the announcement of the winner of Channel 10's So You Think You Can Dance?

9:43- THE WINNER OF SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE 2008 IS JACK CHAMBERS!

Queensland, we are the home to Australia's favourite dancer! I can't remember if we have had any Queensland Idol winners, but even if we have this is way more exciting.

Jack has been consistantly the most impressive dancer in the show, I think I may have even said to someone in the top 20 week that Jack was going to win. It feels good to be right.

Well thanks for joining me for the finale of So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Here's hoping that there are many more seasons to come.
Make sure you keep an eye on the Sunshine Coast Daily and thedaily.com.au for our chat with the winner - Jack Chambers.

9:34- Man I was so excited just then! I thought they were going to announce the winner, but no. We have the boys dancing together. It is an awesome routine and the boys look fantastic in their costumes.

This routine really shows why these guys are the top two dancers on the show, they are so precise and charismatic. Both of them said they were proud to be part of the show that has put dance on the map and it is routines like this that have done it. Jack and Rhys rock!

9:11- They have whittled it down to two- our favourite dancer is either going to be Rhys or Jack. The first winner of So You Think You Can Dance will be a boy!

Bye-bye Kate, it's been a blast but you had no chance against these two amazing dancers.

Far out, I can barely breath with the excitement of all of this.

I am going to be honest and say that I hope Jack wins. How awesome would it be to have a Queenslander as Australia's favourite dancer!

But aside from that, Jack has been consistently brilliant throughout the whole series and just based on that he deserves to win.

Rhys is amazing, but Jack wins hands down.

Not much longer until we find out!

9:05- So we have just finished off the last few memorable routines, some great, some not so great.

Now we have Damien Leith singing which I was dreading, but they have given us a special little surprise with the 16-year-old who stole everyone's heart in the auditions. Caleb would have to be one of the best dancers in Australia and his dancing dream just came true with a $10,000 scholarship with Sydney Dance Company, and he completely deserves it. I got chills!

8:32- And we are back. They have decided to put us through some of the 'favourite' routines from the final 20 and they kicked off with Marko and Stephanie's Jive to Untouched by The Veronicas. That was bad enough the first time, why on earth did they put us through it again!

And then it was Camilla and Sermsah's strange martial arts routine where she stabs him at the end... not one of the best routines of the series but at least it was better than the Jive.

Laura and Anthony came back to do their '70s disco routine which was actually better this time than the original, maybe they have been practicing it since they got kicked off. Anthony is definitely one of the best dancers the show had.

Rhys and Gemma's routine in white (I can't remember the style) was one of the highlights from the entire season. Thank god they have used that one again. It is perhaps one of the most captivating dances that we have seen this year.
It really is an all in love fest on the show, they all love each other and are proud of each other. Dancers seem to be such nice people.

8:22- Well they have just revealed the first person no longer in the running. Jack was the first one through to be safe. Kate is the first girl.
God, the anticipation is killing me!

So either Rhys or Demi won't be going through... the dramatic music is playing... it's... Demi.

Demi's so you think you can dance dream has ended!

8:06- Wow what a treat so far! First we had that sensational performance from Dein Perry's Tap Dogs plus the introduction of the tap pups. How amazing is it to see kids doing such complex tap routines.

Then we had the Project Moda choreographed hip hop routine. Everything those guys touch turns to gold, and that was certainly another gold routine from them.

Then it was the lads from Billy Elliot- that show is just so sensational, the little taste we got tonight doesn't even come close to how brilliant that show is, get on a plane to Sydney and see it.

So now we are watching the top 10 do a pretty eclectic Jet/Nacho Pop routine that had a little bit of everything including hip hop, funk, tap and jazz. It was awesome to see Jack have a chance to show off his tapping skills, that boy really can do everything.

So the voting lines have closed, it's all set in stone, now its just a matter of time until we find out who is Australia's favourite dancer. I haven't been this excited since Anthony Callea sang the Prayer on Idol!

7:33- Well here we are, after months of watching your favourite dancers get booted off the show, in just under two hours we will know who is Australia's favourite dancer. I will be here right through the show to let you know what is happening just in case you can't get to a tv.

And hooly dooley! If there was any doubt as to why Bonnie Lythgoe is a judge, we just saw the evidence when she did a little leg kick while dancing with Jason Gilkison... WOW!

Then we had the pleasure of a little dance demo from Jason and Matt... and yes they can dance.

I think the sizzle reel at the beginning of the show had an ideal soundtrack- Don't Hold Back- because if the dancing at the beginning of the show is anything to go by then there is no way our top four will be holding back.

Nat B just told us that voting lines don't close for another 30minutes, so if you haven't voted yet then now is your last chance!

We also just found out that special guests tonight will include Dein Perry's Tap Dogs, the boys from Billy Elliot (the musical) and Leona Lewis.
It looks like its going to be a VERY exciting show.
