Danksta Downunder, a.k.a. Hamish Danks Brown of Noosa Heads, is the founding
heads-and-tails of the newly emerging microstate of Danksta Downunder. This is
a realm devoted to performance poetry, writing, music, experimenta and obscura. Turkish delight

TURKISH DELIGHT
Mistakenly we thought to eat
this coloured soft
and gentle sweet
we landed troops in leaden hail
and dug some trenches
strong and neat
but found the hills
were far too steep
we stayed a while
and then escaped
back to the sea
from whence we came.
Sadly the Turk
farewelled a foe
but very glad
to see us go.
We celebrate
each year with them
the bravery
off countless men.
Turkish delight is soft
and yet
rosemary is green.
Lest We Forget.
DON’T TALK TURKISH TO ME
Don’t talk Turkish to me
I was there
on a hill with one tree
was I there
the memory may fade
of the friends
that I lost
but the deeds
live on. Yet
with rosemary green
and Lest We Forget.
