For its centenary in 2108, The Sunblock Coast Regional Council has approved funding of an archaeological project in order to find out about the mysterious and unknown lost tribes who lived in the supercity's territory before it was founded.
Speaking at the Ferrari Forum Foyer of Civic Citadel at Canbeerwah, El Super Mayor, Don Joe-Bob Abbaldnat, announced that "an archaeological team from the University of Shadowfacts would search for evidence of the primitive and supposedly "lost" tribes that are believed to have inhabited the Sunblock Coast.
"Now that the Sunblock Coast is a century old, the million or more people who live here today need to know how it all began and how we became the great supercity we are today," El Super Abbaldnat said.
"For years, local legends have been circulating about the mythical lands and peoples of Caloundra and Maroochy, as well as the legendary lost realm of Noosa. The Sunblock Coast supports this effort to reveal the lives of our ancestors, however uncivilised they may have been."
Archaeologists also hope to find traces of an area occupied by various hordes of nomadic barbarians which was generally known as the hinterland.
Professor Robo T Proforma of the University of Shadowfacts will co-ordinate the archaeological survey of the Sunblock Coast.
"The first challenge is to excavate down below the past hundred years of layers which form the present supercity," he said.
"We estimate that we will have to drill through as much as 50 metres of cement foundations, canal walls and/or landfill in most places before we reach the top-most relics of the pre-Sunblock Epoch."
Local enthusiasts of archeology, history and heritage have been insisting for years that there were three ancient cultures in different parts of what was then known, prior to the establishment of the Climate Changing Sheds, as the Sunshine Coast.
The Caloundrians were said to have dwelled in the south, the Maroochinois in the middle and east, and the Noosanauts in the north.
The Hinterlanders were a loose confederation of tribes said to have lived to the west of a fortified freeway barrier known today as Bruce's Crawl and Brawl.
Professor Proforma said: "We know that the current population of the Sunblock Coast is nearly entirely descended from Caloundrian and Maroochinois genetic stock.
"So what became of the Noosanauts and their proud society? This is the great conundrum!"
"We are especially interested in what befell the Noosanauts and why their vibrant culture so suddenly collapsed. Were the Noosanauts expelled, massacred or forced to inter-marry with their conquerors?"
El Super Mayor Abbaldnat said that he was particularly interested in finding out whether there was any truth in the fables about the Arthurian-type character known as Bob Abbot who was said to have been "The Final Chieftain of Noosa".
In ancient rock graffiti located at Hastings High Rise, Bob Abbot was surrounded by an inner circle of elders and warriors brandishing surfboard-shaped shields and an outer circle of Noosanautican heroes, nymphs, beasts and birds which are now all extinct.
This graffiti depicts a rotund and fearsome figure resembling a black-bearded Venus of Willendorf.
"I would love to know whether or not Bob Abbot was a real historical figure," said El Super Mayor Abbaldnat.
Residents and rateraisers of the Sunblock Coast are invited to participate in the Sunshine Coast Archaeological Project and delve into their past at their own expense and risk.

Why didn't you make mention of the constant interference from the SEQopolis administration (the 200 KM City from "Noosa to the Tweed" ). You won't be allowed to conduct this dig without their express approval and we believe that they have reason to want the facts behind the demise of the Sunshine Coast tribes hidden!!
Need to discuss Civil Disobedience with you (or ceceeding ).
You mentioned it in your letter to Noosa News the other day. Can you find me at my registered email? Margerry1
