Two casks of wine too many

December 4 | Coast police

A man allegedly admitted having drunk two casks of wine when police found him sitting in a car in the middle of the Esplanade at Golden Beach.

Caloundra police found the 46-year-old Kurwongbah man when they responded to an alleged hit and run traffic accident last Thursday.

The man said he had been drinking from 4am. There was a partially full bladder of cask wine on front seat, which led officers to believe he was starting his third cask.

He was arrested and taken to Maroochydore Watchhouse, where he allegedly returned a positive BAC of 0.331.

6 month suspension and $700?? Not enough. Going 141kmh on the Nicklin Way is nothing short of ridiculous. These people should be taught a harsh lesson - he could have killed someone! A small fine and short loss of license is nothing more than a small inconvenience. Get tougher and stop these idiots from being on our roads.
