Two Sippy Downs brothers have been charged with the theft of a Commodore sedan found dumped in the Maroochy River last week.

The pair, aged 18 and 20, have also allegedly been linked to a spate of recent burglary and stealing offences after police located a TV, PlayStation, computers, a safe, motor vehicle and numerous other items.

Something fishy …

Police who saw a man running on Brisbane Road intercepted him and found he was in possession of a sum of cash.

Inquiries allegedly linked him to the theft of money from two fish and chip shops.

The man was charged with two counts of entering premises and stealing, as well as breaching bail conditions.

New driver loses licence

A 17-year-old youth who had had his provisional driver’s licence for less than two months was stopped by Palmwoods Police allegedly doing 115kmh in a 60kmh zone – almost double the speed limit.

He was issued with a $700 ticket and will have his driver’s licence suspended.

Speedsters caught in early-bird sting

Ninety-one drivers were issued with speeding notices during operation Early Bird at Maroochydore Road, Kunda Park, and Nicklin Way, Minyama.

The operation was conducted over two Monday early mornings.

Not only were those caught late for work, but they now need to do some overtime to pay the fines.

Erratic driver over the limit

Eumundi Police were advised of a vehicle being driven “all over the road” on the Bruce Highway about 9am on Monday morning.

The driver was heading past Eumundi towards Brisbane, and was stopped by officers near the Yandina-Coolum Road on-ramp. The 48-year-old driver, from Bundaberg, allegedly recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.181%.

If you wait near Wilson's road at 8am and 5.30pm in the day, if you can't book 20 cars in 10 mins for going through the stop sign without stopping I will eat my shorts.

Have your say
