Sunrise Beach beer bust

November 16 | Coast police

Witnesses allegedly saw three men jemmying open the door of a Sunrise Beach bottle shop and then loading alcohol from it into their car boot.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and spotted the suspects’ car about 200 metres away from the bottle shop.

One 17-year-old youth was with the vehicle.

When searched by police, the boot of the vehicle was found to contain several cartons of beer as well as spirits.

The teenager was charged with drink-driving and burglary offences.

Nude run ends in arrest

Maroochydore Police were flagged down last night by members of the public who told them a naked man was walking along the Mooloolaba Esplanade.

Officers found the man and allegedly saw that his genitals were in full view to the public and that many members of the public were gathering around.

They then attempted to arrest him, but he ran off. After a small foot chase, police caught him and restrained him.

The man told police that it was part of a dare put to him by his friends to do a “nudie run”.

He was arrested and charged with wilful exposure and obstructing police offences.

Cannabis found during search

Police recently received information in relation to an address at North Arm where the local real estate agent had allegedly seen a number of cannabis plants while conducting an inspection.

Police executed a search warrant on the property and allegedly found 76 cannabis seedlings and drug paraphernalia.

Further inquiries are being conducted to locate the owner of the seedlings.

Disqualified drivers court out

Police arrested five people during three days of the traffic operation “Court Out”, which wrapped up yesterday.

The operation targeted people who had been disqualified from driving by the courts, and then left the court and drove.

One alleged offender was silly enough to do it twice. After being stopped by police in August 2007 and found to be driving without a current licence, he was charged and appeared in the Maroochydore Court on Wednesday.

At court, he pleaded guilty to driving without a licence. The magistrate then disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for a period of time.

The offender then left the Maroochydore Court, entered his vehicle, and allegedly began to drive away. He was then again stopped by police and his vehicle was immediately impounded.

The driver now has to re-appear before the magistrate to explain why he did not take notice of the disqualification conditions.

Arresting someone for a nudie run? C'mon!

Was the offender tackled? Did he try to snake between the police? He must have been having a ball anyway.

Thank goodness for undercover cops.

Our streets are safe from these unclothed villains.
