Drinking and driving on the water is not on

Sunshine Coast Water Police are amazed and shocked that boaties are continuing to commit drink-driving offences while out on the water.
During the week, water police patrols stopped a 43-year-old man on the Noosa River at 10am.
He allegedly returned a positive breath test and was taken to Noosa Police station for a further test.
At the station, the man allegedly returned a reading of 0.286% – more five times the legal limit. He was charged with driving a vessel while under the influence.
Water police also stopped two men on a jet ski in the Mooloolah River at Mooloolaba and breath-tested the driver. He was taken to the police station, were he allegedly recorded a reading of 0.088% and was charged with drink-driving.
The Sunshine Coast Water Police are reminding boaties to be vigilant about alcohol consumption while out on the water, particularly as we come into the busy time of the year.
There will be extra police patrols over the Christmas holiday period.
Burglary arrest
Detectives from the Sunshine Coast have recently interviewed and charged a man from Tanawha in relation to a number of burglary offences.
When police searched the residence of the 25-year-old man, who had only recently returned from New South Wales, they allegedly found a safe which had the locked drilled out to gain access.
He was charged with nine offences in total, including the burglary of dwellings and business premises throughout the Sunshine Coast.
The man has been remanded in custody.
