Drug blitz leads to nine arrests

October 19 | Coast police

Nine people will face court after a drug operation this week in the Nambour, Bli Bli, Diddillibah and Conondale areas.

They have been charged with a total of 23 drug offences following the operation by Nambour detectives.

As a bonus, a 51-year-old Glasshouse mountains man wanted in relation to fraud offences was found during the operation.

He was arrested for 100 separate fraud offences.

Keep your children safe

Detectives from Sunshine Coast Child Abuse Unit investigating the alleged abuse of a girl have arrested the victim’s father and charged him with 14 counts of indecent dealing with a child and three counts of rape.

Most instances of sexual abuse of children are committed by a person known to the family rather than by strangers.

As the school holidays draw close, it would be a timely reminder to parents that it is important to always be vigilant in protecting your children, particularly when they are supervised by others.

If anyone has any information regarding any form of child abuse, please contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000. Any information will be swiftly passed onto investigators.

Charges follow domestic dispute

Caloundra detectives arrested a 32-year-old man after a woman was allegedly slashed across the throat during a domestic incident at Golden Beach.

The man has been charged with unlawful wounding and six counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. Police have opposed his bail.

False licence

A driver stopped for a routine matter by Palmwoods police ended up being arrested over a number of alleged frauds.

When his heavy vehicle was stopped in Palmwoods, the 61-year-old man produced a Victorian truck licence which police suspected was false.

Inquiries confirmed their suspicions. The driver also allegedly used a number of different names and was wanted for various offences both in Queensland and interstate.

Detectives were called in to investigate and arrested the man on 11 fraud offences.

I'm not surprised that they found so many drugs in Nambour and surrounding areas. I have lived in Nambour for many years now and could point out all of the "DRUG HOUSES"in the area that police overlook. About time they take this problem seriously because it is only going to get worse.

Police advise that anyone who has information about drugs should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Nambour CIB on 5441 5313. Remember information can be given anonymously. - Editor

missratty - if you could point out drug houses to the police, it is your social responsibility to do so. I hope you will.
