Drink-driver caught twice in one morning

April 21 | Coast police

Police received complaints regarding a group of youths causing a disturbance at Maloja Avenue in Caloundra on Sunday morning.

The youths had been renting a holiday unit and had been evicted by management due to their allegedly anti-social behaviour.

Police intercepted one of the youths driving a vehicle from the car park of the units into Maloja Avenue.

The driver, an 18-year-old from Kallangur who was driving on Learner licence only, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.091%.

Learner drivers are not permitted to have any alcohol in their system.

The man was released from custody after being issued with a notice to appear in court for drink driving.

At 10.20am the same offender was spotted driving the same Holden Commodore westbound on Caloundra Road and was intercepted once more.

He again provided a breath specimen, this time recording a blood alcohol concentration of 0.032%.

He was issued with a notice to appear in court for drink driving and also unlicensed driving due to a 24-hour drink drive suspension imposed earlier.

The man will appear in the Caloundra Magistrates Court on May 8.

What do you reckon......just bad luck, or a 'stake out,' which must have lasted one/two hours to allow the bac to dilute from 0.91 to 0.32?

Now, I'm not condoning what this apparent idiot has allegedly done........but, I'd like to know how this policing rolled out, and I'd like to know what other, if any, calls for assistance the relevant Cop Car ignored (if any) so they could, (if they did) keep the suspect car under observation to tag the idiot a second time.........?

It is such an easy mark during that shift.

Have your say
