A bloody defective, unlicensed idiot six times over

April 28 | Coast police

A Brisbane man was picked up by police for drink-diving, driving unlicensed and driving a badly defected car near Caloundra yesterday - twice.

Police were travelling inbound on Caloundra Road at Little Mountain about 5.30pm when they heard a vehicle going in the opposite direction, their attention drawn by a loud exhaust.

The Caloundra crew then swung around to the other side of the road and eventually sighted the vehicle again on the Bruce Highway.

The officers stopped the man in his Holden Commodore sedan near Bells Creek Road, at which point they carried out an inspection of the car.

The car’s exhaust system was completely missing, it had bald tyres and a faulty suspension. The man, 34, returned a positive blood alcohol reading of .077 per cent and was also found to be unlicensed.

The man then hired a taxi to take him back to Brisbane, however police intercepted him again driving on the Bruce Highway at Beerburrum a short time later.

He was taken back to the Caloundra station and this time returned a blood alcohol concentration of .052 per cent.

He was charged with two counts of drink-driving, two counts of driving unlicensed and given Traffic Infringement Notices for his defective vehicle and a defect repair notice.

He will appear in court on May 22.
