Two retired police officers saw a man prepare to drive off after drinking at the Ettamogah Pub on Thursday.

They had noticed that he seemed to be affected by alcohol when he got up to leave the pub, so alerted police as soon as they saw him get in the car.

Palmwoods police quickly intercepted the driver at Glenview before he had a chance to kill or injure himself or others.

The 66-year-old from Maroochydore was unable to supply a breath specimen. However, a blood sample was been taken for analysis and police expect to lay drink-driving charges at a later date.
