A student who rolled his car on the Nicklin Way and a BMW driver who was almost four times the legal limit were among 28 people who faced drink-driving charges in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court over the past week.
May 21
Leasa Jane Johnstone, a 37-year-old unemployed female from Bokarina, appeared after being charged with driving a Mitsubishi Lancer on the David Low Way at 5.30pm on December 23, 2007 with a blood alcohol reading of .148. Ms Johnstone was also charged with fail to supply a roadside test, obstructing police in their duty and driving while her licence was suspended. She was convicted of one penalty, placed on probation for 18 months and disqualified from driving for 18 months.
On the same day, Ms Johnstone also appeared in relation to two complaints arising out of being intercepted driving on Horton Parade, Maroochydore at 2.20am on December 12, 2007. As a result, she was charged with failing to supply a specimen of breath and obstruct police. She was also placed on probation for 18 months and disqualified for 18 months.
Perry Lyle Grewar, a 42-year-old sales representative from Minyama, appeared after being charged with driving a LandRover on First Avenue Mooloolaba at 2.31am on December 21, 2007 with a blood alcohol reading of .146. He was fined $600 and disqualified for four months.
Ian Arnold Burns, a 61-year-old invalid pensioner from Maroochydore, appeared after being charged with driving a Holden Commodore on Bradman Avenue at 7.36pm on April 6 with a blood alcohol reading of .089. He was fined $700 and disqualified for nine months.
Julie Anne Hartas, a 47-year-old pensioner from Kuluin, appeared after being charged with driving a Toyota Camry on Tallowood Drive at 7.15pm on March 15 with a blood alcohol reading of .124. She was fined $750 and disqualified for three months.
Rebecca Ann Little, a 25-year-old mortgage broker from Weyba Downs, appeared after being charged with driving a Daihatsu sedan on David Low Way at Marcoola at 9.40pm on April 9 with a blood alcohol reading of .102. She was fined $500, disqualified for three months and granted a section 87 licence.
Renee Kenniwell, a 26-year-old from Pacific Paradise, appeared after being charged with driving a Ford Falcon sedan on Mooloolaba Esplanade at 11.35pm on March 30 with a blood alcohol reading of .117. She was fined $600, disqualified for five months and granted a section 87 licence.
May 22
Shaun Alan Black, a 25-year-old store clerk from Noosa Heads, appeared after being charged with dangerous driving of a Commodore sedan on Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore and having a blood alcohol reading of .114 on December 9, 2007. He received probation for 12 months and has his licence disqualified for 10 months.
Desmond Norman Wieland, a 56-year-old labourer from Peregian Beach, appeared after being charged with driving a Ford Falcon sedan on David Low Way at 5.15pm on April 3 with a blood alcohol reading of .097. He was placed on probation for 12 months, ordered to complete a drink drive program and disqualified for six months.
Ryan Todd Johns, a 21-year-old student from Alexandra Headland, appeared after being charged with driving a Subaru Liberty on Goonawarra Drive at 2.07am on April 7 with a blood alcohol reading of .17. He was fined $500 and disqualified for three months.
Dylan Lee Travers, a 24-year-old unemployed person from Doonan, appeared after being charged with driving a Toyota Supra coupe on Central Avenue, Coolum Beach at 2.45pm on April 13 with a blood alcohol reading of .06. He was disqualified from driving for one penalty, fined $1000 and disqualified for two years.
Garry Neville Collis, a 63-year-old retired person from Fingal Bay, NSW, appeared after being charged with driving a Hyundai sedan on Buderim Ave, Alexandra Headland at 9.10pm on May 3. He was fined $550 and disqualified for two months.
David John Gray, a 24-year-old labourer from Rosehill, appeared after being charged with driving a Holden sedan on Toombra Street, Maroochydore at 6.15pm on March 17 with a blood alcohol reading of .062. He was fined $175, disqualified for one month and granted a section 87 licence.
Dianne Fay Taylor, a 60-year-old from Parrearra, appeared after being charged with driving a Mitsubishi van on Nicklin Way, Minyama at 11.15pm on March 20 with a blood alcohol reading of .055. She was fined $200 and disqualified for six weeks.
Adam Jason Cox, a 30-year-old bar attendant from Maroochydore, appeared following a traffic accident involving another vehicle that occurred at 8.40pm on December 3, 2007 in Buccleugh Street, Moffat Beach where the driver had a blood alcohol reading of .125 and was disqualified from driving at the time. He received 18 months’ probation, ordered to undertake a drink drive program and disqualified for two years.
Andrew Paul King, a 30-year-old unemployed person from Caloundra, appeared after being charged with driving a Ford Festiva on Cunning Street, Tanawha at 2.50pm on April 7 with a blood alcohol reading of .086. He was placed on probation for nine months and disqualified for nine months.
Nathan Petrus Vanryn, a 31-year-old unemployed person of Maroochydore, appeared after being charged with driving a Holden sedan on River Esplanade, Mooloolaba at 12.20am on May 3 with a blood alcohol reading of .06. He was fined $200 and disqualified for one month.
Damien Richard Godwin, a 28-year-old fisherman from Alexandra Headland, appeared following a single vehicle traffic accident that occurred on Wirraway Street, Maroochyodre at 2.10am on March 10 where the accused had a blood alcohol reading of .175. He was fined $900 and disqualified for nine months.
May 26
Peter Anthony Bateman, 43, a bartender from Yaroomba, appeared on charges of driving a motor vehicle north on the David Low Way at 11.05pm on May 2 with a blood-alcohol reading of .079%. He was fined $600 and disqualified for five month.
Patrick Ashley Hill, 21, a cabinet maker from Rosemount, appeared on charges of driving a Mazda RX7 coupe on Maroochy Road at 7am on May 5 with a blood-alcohol reading of .102%. He was fined $525 and disqualified for four months.
Shaun Lee Sayer, 29, on a disability pension from Coolum Beach, appeared on charges of driving a Honda CRV on David Low Way at Coolum Beach at 1.50am on April 12 with a blood-alcohol reading of .111%. He was fined $900 and disqualified for five months.
Timothy Johannes Van Sambeeck, 24, a plumber from Mooloolaba, appeared in court charged with driving a Falcon utility on Douglas Street at Mooloolaba at 12.55am on the March 23 with a blood-alcohol reading of .104%. He was fined $700 and disqualified for six months.
May 23
Marcus Jay Grauf, 19, a student from Upper Mount Cravatt, appeared on charges which arose out of a single-vehicle traffic accident at 1.10am on April 6 on Nicklin Way at Minyama. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to mount the centre median strip and roll. He had a blood-alcohol reading of .119%, and was fined $750 and disqualified for four months.
Kristoffer James Bayliss, 18, an apprentice sheet metal worker from Glass House Mountains, appeared charged with driving a Holden utility on Reed Street, Glass House Mountains, at 12.30am on April 13 with a blood-alcohol reading of .064%. He was fined $200 and disqualified for three months.
Karen Joanne Kamp, 42, an administration officer of Buderim, appeared in court charged with driving a BMW sedan on Churinga Street, Minyama, at 10.23pm on March 3 with a blood-alcohol reading of .190%. She was fined $1500 and disqualified for 12 months.
Aaron John Campbell, 27, a student from Maroochydore, appeared in court charged with driving a Nissan Pulsar on Maroochydore Road at 1.50am on April 4 with a blood-alcohol reading of .175%. He was fined $1200 and disqualified for eight months.
Gavin George Hazel, 27, a concreter from Yandina, appeared charged with driving a Ford sedan on Sunshine Motorway at Mooloolaba at 4.15am on May 4 with a blood-alcohol reading of .155%. He was fined $1200 and disqualified for 10 months.
Troy Stephen Robbins, 29, a roofer from Sunrise Beach, appeared charged with driving a Holden Commodore sedan on David Low Way at Coolum Beach at 8.35pm on March 19 with a blood-alcohol reading of .062%. He was fined $150 and disqualified for one month.
Darren Keith Brunner, 38, a concreter from Buddina, appeared in court charged with driving a Nissan utility on Nicklin Way at Wurtulla at 4.04pm on April 5 with a blood-alcohol reading of .066%. He was fined $150 and disqualified for one month.
