Save the bunny!

August 20 | Mark Chapman

Part blackmail, part Joe Cartoon: Save-me-please.com is a website where Rabi the rabbit's life is supposedly in our hands.

Recipes to the right give you a fair idea of what's in store for Rabi if demands for donations are not met. On the left you get stories and videos of Rabi washing himself and going about his daily rabbit business. Awww. Cute.

This is the latest in a string of bunnymail sites, www.savetoby.com being one of the first to threaten cooking up a fluffy pet. You'll be happy to know that Toby is alive and well, however Berndt, a German bunny, was not so lucky according to his website.

Before you hop to conclusions, according to Snopes.com the urban legend reference site, these sites are all hoaxes and no actual bunnies were harmed, although the websites have never failed to provoke a passionate war of words between people who love fluffy bunnies and those who think they would be better off inside a pie.

The battle of words surrounding this particular site includes the gem "I would anger manage my foot in this person ass. That is sick and I am an animal lover" from the Woman's Day discussion board.

Make up your own mind at www.save-me-please.com. I'm sure thousands of thumper-munching people around the globe don't quite get the drama surrounding the site in the first pace.

Should you part with your money to save the bunny? Probably not.

*The insert photo is not of Rabi, but is of course, equally cutesy.
