If internet years were equal to dog years, Mark Chapman has already spent an entire lifetime on the world wide wait. Many human years later, the new tube finally delivers and Mark is only too happy to be your guide to the weird, whacky and wonderful online. Bizarre Japanese gameshow pain
| Mark Chapman
Gameshows. When we think of gameshows, you imagine Eddy McGuire asking a sweaty contestant to "lock it in", or Larry Emdur being mobbed by an ecstatic family who just guessed the price of a box of breakfast cereal correctly.
But not in Japan.
Oh no, in Japan, the only thing sweaty boy would be locking in, is his seatbelt as he gets shot out of a cannon. And the family would be jumping up and down on pogo sticks over a pit of crocodiles...
Okay, maybe not quite that extreme, but one would have to wonder if contestants on Japanese gameshows are volunteers or are being punished, especially if you've ever watched Takeshi's Castle.
Here are some more recent winners on Youtube:
How about a round of Human Tetris?
Drunken boxing? I really couldn't figure out the point of this one...
And finally, my absolute favourite, which involves some sort of speed-reading it seems, with painful consequences for failure: Gents, this one will make your eyes water... Cross your legs and check it out here.
