If internet years were equal to dog years, Mark Chapman has already spent an entire lifetime on the world wide wait. Many human years later, the new tube finally delivers and Mark is only too happy to be your guide to the weird, whacky and wonderful online. Free music? Yes, sort of...

Today, we have Kylie's new album being pushed online as "free" for a few days leading up to its official shelf release date.
Yes, it's a preview, like the Gorillaz' D-Sides album preview - except not as cool, of course. But maybe that's because the Gorillaz are just cooler?
It's free, but so is listening to the radio. You don't get to download anything but you can listen.
In download terms, plenty bands have hopped on the free-train, giving away their music, as Radiohead basically did - for those of you who missed it - with their latest opus, In Rainbows, where fans could "decide how much to pay" for the album.
Mmm... Let me think. I can pay you $30, or $0.... Surprisingly, a lot of people did pay a fair bit for it. Good on you, honest folk.
Just type "free album" into Google (filter the "photo album" results with a quick "-photo") and you'll find tons of bands willing to let you have their hard earned artistic endeavours for not one red cent.
Go on, get some free stuff... to keep!
