Strange fruit: the hottest orange in Brocklehurst.
Ebay is without fail, a guaranteed source of the bizarre. Right now a genuine, locally grown "chili shaped orange" awaits one lucky bidder with an eye for uncanny fruit.
The seller guarantees its authenticity and freshness, stating that it was picked off the tree on Thursday, August 15. For an opening bid of just a dollar, you could be the proud owner of this enigma of nature: a cool citrus fruit with a hot identity crisis.
According to the description on Ebay.com.au, the fruit, grown in the village of Brocklehurst NSW has all the usual aspects of an orange, smells like an orange, has the wrinkly skin like an orange, but looks like a chili.
If you have a particular affinity for odd oranges and other confused citrus, why not put in a bid? The zesty pretend-pepper can take pride of place in the display cabinet, next to the image of Jesus miraculously burnt into a slice of toast, and the potato that uncannily resembles John Howard.
