The Sunshine Coast Daily's tribute magazine, Memories of Steve.
Today marks one year since the Sunshine Coast lost its favourite son – the mighty Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.
Millions of people around the world were shocked by the wildlife warrior’s death, after he was stabbed in the chest by a stingray while filming a documentary in far north Queensland.
But nowhere was the grief more heartfelt than on the Sunshine Coast, where hundreds left tributes outside the Irwins’ Australia Zoo at Beerwah and more than 5000 attended a moving, televised memorial at the zoo’s Crocoseum. See our original multimedia tribute and shorter tribute set to a song written by Col Buchanan a day after Steve's death.
To mark the anniversary of Steve’s death, the Sunshine Coast Daily will today publish a full gloss tribute magazine called Memories of Steve.
This special publication features dozens of photographs, including special images supplied by Steve’s family and friends at Australia Zoo, plus some great memories of the man himself.
You can also share your memories of Steve at our Your Say Today blog.

Steve died doing what he loved best, now we should all give 100% to continue his dream..Together we can do our bit to help Terri continue the work Steve started, to educate people that we need to protect our wildlife, and save our planet.
Steve, you will forever be missed and never forgotten...With love to the Irwin family...

So, I gave up being a bored housewife, and am now at college ~ and working with Big Cats!!!
I have Steve & Terri to thank for their passion and enthusiasm.
God Bless all the Irwin Family, and their friends and employees.
A hero, guardian, protector, friend, warrior, wonderful daddy, the fantastic love of Terri's life, he touched each and everyone of us. He helped us reach out to a world humans don't normally touch. He helped us to slow down and see the wonder of the animal world, the passion, fierceness, beauty and love.
On the morning of the anniversary of his passing, my son AJ (2 1/2 years old) saw a preying mantis in our neighbor's driveway. He pointed, saying "Steve, momma." Translation: Please move the bug.
AJ is a child that isn't suppose to be alive, thankfully he is. I have learned to see the world all over again through his eyes, and he is seeing things most adults miss, ignore or pass by. I was watching Steve long before AJ was born, and AJ watched him (still does) before he left our planet.
He gets excited when the shows come on and manages to teach me something new each day about the creatures in our world. Steve did this also and made sure we all knew of his love for all of them, no matter what they were.
Thank you so very much Steve, Terri, Bindi, Robert and Grandpa Bob for showing my son and I the wonder and beauty of this place. Steve will always be missed, but not as much as if his entire legacy collapsed with him.
Thank you for having the strength and the desire to carry on, and hopefully in the near future, AJ and I will be able to come see your world close up.
