PNG man accused of importing cannabis

A Papua New Guinea national has been charged with importing cannabis on a Torres Strait island after authorities received a tip-off via the customs hotline.
Thursday Island police and Australian Customs officers travelled to Yam Island, in central Torres Strait on Wednesday, after getting a tip-off about cannabis smuggling, police said.
Their investigations led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man from Papua New Guinea.
He has been charged with the importation and supply of dangerous drugs and is due to face Thursday Island Magistrates Court.
