There are two ‘only at The Noosa Longweekend’ laugh-out-loud opportunities in 2008 presents with satirist Max Gillies and comedic actress Amanda Muggleton bound to have festival goers in the aisles with their very special and very different talents.
Now in its seventh year, The Noosa Longweekend festival runs during school holidays
from 4 to 13 July, with tickets available from 28 April. It will offer up ten fantastic fun-filled days and nights with more than 220 performances and activities across theatre, literature, music, dance, forum, film, art and cuisine in the breathtaking setting that is Noosa.
“We are so very fortunate to have our very own evening of Max Gillies unmasked, and Amanda Muggleton, hailed as one of Australia’s finest stage performers, going one-on-one with audiences,” said Gail Hewton, Festival General Manager.
“No Country for Old PMs is a must-see with Max Gillies, Australia’s foremost impersonator and satirist, revisiting some of his razor-sharp scripts and totally unmasked, injects a fresh perspective to create a performance that cuts to the funny bone of the body politic.”
“Max will provide a special wicked evening of reminiscence just for The Noosa Longweekend festival. He’ll be bringing some of his best characters - Menzies, Fraser, Whitlam, Hawke, Keating and Howard – back to life from their political graveyards,” said Gail.
There will be no punches pulled in this retrospective for which Gillies is collaborating with long time colleague, friend and patron of The Noosa Longweekend festival, David Williamson.
Another exceptional chance to laugh out loud will be provided by Amanda Muggleton in Roger Hall’s wonderful comedy The Book Club, with Rodney Fisher directing, which promises non-stop, witty and intimate dialogue with one of Australia’s best loved performers. And Amanda is also doing a second event, as herself, in conversation with ABC TV’s Peter Thompson.
“With arguably Australia’s greatest comic actress, Amanda Muggleton starring, and one of Australia’s very best directors, Rodney Fisher, at the helm, Noosa is in for a very special treat,” said David Williamson.
