Embarking on a remarkable fifth Olympics, Robinson is the only athlete in the Sunshine Coast’s seven-strong representation not making their debut in China.

Robinson has the full set of medals to his name, highlighted by his gold medal in the K1 1000m in his first Olympics at Barcelona in 1992.

A bronze at the same event in Atlanta four years later and a silver four years ago alongside Nathan Baggaley in the K2 500m in Athens ensures the 36-year-old has the full set.

Robinson’s preparation has been anything but smooth sailing. He had to survive a number of appeals from fellow kayaker Luke Michael, disgruntled at his non-selection.

DVDs of his previous Olympic performances were stolen during a recent training camp at Rockhampton.

When Clint’s competing: K4 First round: Monday, August 18 (late afternoon); K4 Semi-finals: Wednesday, August 20 (late afternoon); K4 final: Friday, August 22 (early evening); K2 First round: Tuesday, August 19 (late afternoon); K2 semi-finals: Thursday, August 21 (late afternoon); K2 final: Saturday, August 23 (late afternoon).
