If you have been anywhere near the Nambour Civic Centre this week, you could be forgiven for thinking it is Christmas.
Choirs have been everywhere, and young voices have been bursting up into the rafters for the 2008 Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod.
Yesterday it was a battle for supremacy between choirs from schools including Bli Bli State School, Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Coolum Primary and Sunshine Coast Grammar.
Meanwhile, down the road at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Coes Creek Road, the battle of the string instruments was also getting under way as part of the eisteddfod’s activities, with a host of schools competing in a huge range of orchestral categories.
Eisteddfod president Leanne Liesegang said adjudicators for all the events had come from throughout Queensland to participate.
The eisteddfod began on August 2 and runs until August 12.
