The woman known as the book detective opens her own boutique bookshop in Peregian today.
Annie Grossman’s passion for, and extensive knowledge of, books and authors is legendary in Noosa where she has worked for many years, including 10 years at the Written Dimension.
She also spent many years working with the Noosa Longweekend festival, bringing many famous authors to the Coast and contributing to the event’s cultural status.
Now Annie is turning a new page, launching Annie’s Books on Peregian, which will specialise in sourcing hard-to-find books as well as providing new releases, books by local authors and many varieties of non-fiction books and gift ideas.
Annie will continue to work with local book clubs, and says customer orders for books, CDs and DVDs will be an important part of the business.
“Many of my friends and past customers have been dropping by to see me and have bought books before the shop has officially opened which is fantastic,” Annie said.
“I have been thrilled and touched by their kind words of affection and also their unceasing support.”
Annie said she looked forward to welcoming new and old friends to her bookshop.
“It has been my dream for many years,” she said.
“Thank you all for allowing me to live it.”
Annie’s Books on Peregian, directly opposite the Peregian Beach Surf Club, will be open seven days from 8.30am to 5 pm.
