And the winner is … Ninderry.
Last week’s Coolum Primary School sports carnival saw Ninderry take out the prep to Year 4 title and, in the process, the title of champion house for 2008.
At the end of last Friday’s carnival, held in perfect Sunshine Coast conditions, Ninderry was on top with 222 points, followed by Peregian with 172 points, Marutchi (143 points) and Cooloola (121).
The standout performer of the day was Ariana Toby, who set a new high jump record of 114cm – breaking the old record by 20cm – and a new long jump record of 2.91 metres.
Age champions were:
Year 3 boys: Liam Davies,
Year 3 girls: Maisie Berry
Year 4 boys: Lincoln Parsons
Year 4 girls: Stephanie Pointer.
As well as high jump, long jump, shot put, sprints and relays, students were involved in ball games and novelty events, including tug-of-war, sack races, three-legged races, egg and spoon races, and a modified version of hurdles, turbo-jav (javelin) and foxtail (hammer) throwing.
The students were also entertained by a Year 7 cheerleading display.
