John Morrall, the Sunshine Coast contestant on The Biggest Loser is now in it to win it for his health, being unable to compete for the $200,00 prize money.
Last night's episode of The Biggest Loser came with a crushing blow for our own Sunshine Coast representative, John Morrall.
During a routine health assessment, John's problematic medical condition was brought to the fore, and it's turned out to be a costly one that will seriously affect his time at the White House.
John, a 44-year-old father and soon-to-be-grandfather, suffers from hypertension (high blood pressure), and as a result has been excluded from competing for the cash incentive of $200,000.
Trainer Shannan announced to him that he is still able to compete, but with very strict limitations placed on what physical activity.
Instead of the gruelling fitness routine that the others will undergo, John will only be able to perform 30 – 40 minutes of mild walking a day.
John, who has had heart problems and recently a bit of a heart scare, said he was motivated by his wife and family to shed the kilos and improve his health.
Although winning the grand prize of $200,000 is no longer an option, John goal of trimming down, shedding 40kg and living a healthier life is still perfectly within his grasp.
In other show action, the training sessions were on and contestants began to feel the strain, with Sean the first to struggle. But with Sean's medical tests proving fine he was told in no uncertain terms that Shannan would not accept excuses such as his diabetes whilst training.
Meanwhile, the girls were brought to tears by trainer Michelle, who put them through their first workout of many.
Tensions started to develop when the contestants met in the Warehouse to choose their type of food for the week. Despite three of the girls having an aversion to seafood, it was voted that it would be a 'pescaterian' diet for the Losers for the next week, leaving some none too happy.
While the contestants in the house are getting started on their journey to health, the Black Team were on their way to begin their training with Bob and Jillian.
Tonight's episode brings more drama for John, with a mystery phonecall. Tune in to Channel Ten at 7:00pm for all the action.
