Fresh candidate Steven Attrill is a family man who has lived in Glasshouse for eight years with his wife and young daughter.
The former Suncorp financial planner is so determined to take on responsibility of one of the largest divisions on the Sunshine Coast he has begun selling off his businesses to dedicate his time to the task.
“I’ve got large corporate business experience, financial planning experience, small business management skills and I’m an outgoing, positive, energetic person who believes in doing the best for everyone.
“If anyone says they have had experience in doing this before, they don’t.
“This new council is so much bigger and it’s so much more complex.”
Mr Attrill’s interest in local issues was peaked with the railway upgrade, the Baroon Pocket to Morayfield pipeline and the effects of the Beerwah Railway overpass.
“I was disappointed with the way the community was being treated over all of these proposals,” he said.
“I felt that the area needed new representation and I feel that I can make a difference and would bring to council my vision that long-term planning for the area is needed.”
He believes a fresh approach is needed to handle such a large division.
Mr Attrill was inspired to run to preserve his little piece of paradise.
“It’s paradise plus, I have no doubts about it,” he said.
