Intimate album

ALBUM: The Other Woman

ARTIST: James Morrison and Deni Hines

LABEL: Morrison Records / MRA Entertainment

REVIEWER: Nathanael Cooper

VERDICT: 8/10

You can almost guarantee you are on a winner when you pick up any album featuring jazz legend James Morrison.

His latest offering to the world of easy listening is no different.

The Other Woman is the jazz music version of the warm blanket you wrap around yourself on a cold day.

It engulfs you and makes you feel fantastic.

And although Deni Hines has her detractors, she has found her niche covering hits of some of the world’s greatest female jazz artists including the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone.

While they are hard acts to follow, Deni Hines does a more than adequate job of paying a fitting tribute to these artists and adding her own unique twist to the well-known tunes.

The Other Woman is a captivating album, each track leaves you begging for more and by the end, you are fumbling for your remote to hit the repeat button.

With the tour landing on the Sunshine Coast soon, I can’t even begin to imagine how good they will be live.
