It's the sushi flop!

It's the sushi flop!

A boardrider at Alexandra Headland almost pulled off Julian Wilson’s patented sushi roll - almost. Photo Chris McCormack

It was a case of almost but not really when this bald-pated boardrider went the punt at Alexandra Headland this week and had a crack at his own version of pro junior star Julian Wilson’s patented super move.

The backhand “Sushi” won 19-year-old Julian of Coolum worldwide acclaim when he pulled it off during a photo shoot in Japan last year.

This brave forehand attempt at kind of the same thing looked promising for a short while but was never fast enough or high enough to match the style of one of the world’s most promising young surf stars.

It won't be long before they stop wearing leg ropes and start doing the same tricks as skateboarders. Good on ya Julian, rip it up mate.
