Approved 4

Byron Bay's 50 Lions are one of the great bands featured on PA4.

That's how little your wallet will feel when you pick up a copy of Pee Approved 4, the fourth compilation from Adelaide punk rock label, Pee Records. And if you're a digital download fan, you'll know you can't even get them that cheap online!

The 26 blistering tracks rack up 72 minutes of high-quality punk and hardcore sounds from bands all around Australia, and a few from further afield.

True to form of the previous Pee Approved compilation CDs, the featured bands are all hand picked favourites of the Pee staff - bands that they love, so there's no 'paid corporate inclusions' here. You're getting music from the heart, and damn fine music at that!

As well as standout tunes from all resident bands in the Pee family such as Bad Day Down, In The Face Of War, Remain Opposed, The Scissor File and more, some other highlights have to be the opener "To the Test" by Byron Bay's 50 Lions and "Face It" by the rather agitated Italian band, Watch Your Step.

Another Pee act, Perth's The Restless Words (who some might know from Triple J's Unearthed) deliver a particularly killer track from the recent EP, Lights On St. George, entitled "Velocity".

The CD also features a number of previously unreleased songs, such as the catchy singalong "Ten Times Magnified" by Adelaide's Third Time Lucky, which boasts enough vocal harmonies to make a barbershop quartet blush.

Pee Records - also well known for their longstanding zine - is a stickler for quality artwork and PA4 is no disappointment, with impressive graphics packaging the punk perfectly.

There's enough variety on this disc to keep fans from melodic punk to hardcore happy, while still being a consistently good listen all the way through.

All in all, a great compilation, a great overview of some brilliant bands and of course, a great buy at only $10. If you can't find this one at Moshpit Music, you can pick it up direct at www.peerecords.com, where you can also see a full track listing.
