Swastikas spray-painted on house

Swastika symbols were spray-painted at the scene of an arson attack on Brisbane’s northside overnight.

Three women awake to the sound of glass breaking at their Grange home about 11.40pm, and discovered the noise was caused by fire.

Firefighters were quickly on the scene and brought the blaze under control.

Police said it appeared that before the fire was lit, the intruders had spray-painted graffiti, including swastika symbols, on the external walls of the house and a business joined to the house. Two vehicles parked in the front yard were also spray-painted.

“The racial nature of the graffiti does not appear to be relevant to the owners or occupiers of the premises, but appears to be random,” a police spokesperson said.

The intruders then set fire to papers out the front of the house.

The blaze fire damaged the two vehicles, as well as the front exterior of the house.
