A double bill that will leave the audience amazed as well as hugely entertained comes to the Majestic Theatre in Pomona on Friday, February 8.

When Linsey Pollak and Mal Webb take to the stage, everyone sits up and takes notice.

Linsey is renowned for making music from carrots, rubber gloves, chairs and even blow-up frogs.

In his latest show, he applies this prodigious talent to the ordinary bicycle.

But even he finds it almost impossible to describe his colleague, Mal Webb.

“He plays too many instruments in too many styles to too many people.

“He gives eclecticism a bad name, and that’s Mal, whatever your language.

“Ballads, beatbox and beyond. A jolly jaw-dropping journeyman.

“Eclectic, ebullient and even educational.

“He uses a world of vocal techniques and writing styles and plays guitar, mbira, slide trumpet, chromatic harmonica, a loop recording pedal called Derek and the audience. . . a lot.”

He’s been called a freak, an accomplished singer.

“He’s like Bobby McFerrin, Aphex Twin and Cole Porter playing scrabble,” says B Freely

As Professor Squealy Deetbum, Linsey is the world’s leading researcher in Cycology - the art of playing the bicycle.

In a brilliant solo show, the bicycle seat, handlebar, gear cable, bicycle pump, wheels and frame all become musical instruments.

Their sounds are recorded live, mixed and layered as you watch, to create a series of wondrous compositions.

The Courier Mail said of Linsey: “He is wildly innovative in the use of his instruments but he never lets his experimentation get in the way of the essential musicality of a work.”

Whether you are 33, 3 or 83, you are sure to enjoy this show.

Linsey takes you through the zany, past the expected, and on to new musical imaginings.
