Stockland Park stadium funding is not all lost, with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council confirming $5 million was set aside last year.
The council confirmed funding was still available for the development of the $23 million, 12,000 seat stadium at Stockland Park.
Division 3 councillor and Stockland Park board member Keryn Jones says reports no money has been allocated to the proposed Stockland Park Stadium complex are incorrect.
“Funding was not allocated in the Sunshine Coast Council’s 08/09 budget because $5 million was already provided for the Stockland Park Stadium in the Caloundra City Council’s 07/08 budget,” said Ms Jones.
“Council will consider the reprovisioning the Stockland Park Stadium funding from the 07/08 budget into the 08/09 budget in mid to late August,” she said.
“By this time we should have received the results of the chief executive officer’s review, and a decision will be made on the status of the funding.”
The Stockland Park Board will give the council a presentation on Monday to provide all councillors with a better understanding of the project.
A council statement said only two councillors from the former Caloundra City Council completely understood the project’s history.
The federal government has also pledged $5 million. But the council is waiting on the funding agreement to be finalised.

Can I suggest that YOU stop playing the political games and be thankful that someone from the Caloundra Council Finance Dept remembered the $5Million for the Stadium. Lucky they didn't retrench them all, eh?
