Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he produces several genres of music under several different pseudonyms, leaks his own white label bootleg mash-ups to fellow DJs and onto rocking dance floors, mixes Ministry of Sound compilation after Ministry of Sound compilation, remixes megastars, tours Australia and the world, has an alarming, thankfully rare, stage diving habit, fronts a national radio show, knows far too many people (far too well), can drink drunks under the table and even shouts lunch for his freeloading, copywriter friends.
But surely the hardest working creative chameleon in the music business does something to make his mother proud?
Yep. She quite likes one of the weirder mash-ups.
The rest of the time he disappoints her immensely with huge sets of floor fillers packing the biggest club nights in the country. From his current residency at Famous (both Sydney & Melbourne) back in time through weekly slots at home Sydney, special monthly performances at One Love Melbourne, weekly indulgence at Tank, and a little bit of Mischief.
The past 10 years have seen DJ Goodwill everywhere and representing quality dance music DJing regularly at everything from Falls, Big Day Out, Livid and Splendor to Good Vibrations, Future Music Festival, Summadayze, Mobile Home and MS Fest.
Not bad for a bloke banging out other peoples music.
OK, and one or two tracks of his own when no one’s really paying attention.
But then he does do it particularly well.
In recent years Goodwill’s production credits, including ‘Happenis’, ‘Go Away Baby’ and ‘Outta Control’, have made him Ministry Of Sound’s highest selling Australian artist and a producer naturally in demand. His latest single ‘Outta Control’ is currently rocking floors worldwide as well as the Goodwill & Tommy Trash monster, ‘It’s a Swede Thing’ with big props from Eric Prydz, Erick Morillo, Darren Emerson and Axwell.
The remix discography, which is getting long enough to be a list rather than a paragraph (but we’ll persevere for now) includes Ignitions ‘Love Is War’ with Mr Timothy, re-working The Presets ‘Girl & The Sea” for European release, The Lost Gospel, Sigurrumn Starbaby and a heap of stuff with Mr Pocket of Poxymusic fame and infamy.
This year will also see Goodwill launching two new side projects – a Pop project and one firmly for the seedy underground. Goodwill also recently released the debut single from his side project ATTACKATTACK titled ‘Set The Sun’ as well as two epic remixes of Sneaky Sound Systems ‘UFO’ and ‘Goodbye’.
From a compilation standpoint Goodwill has mixed Ministry of Sound’s The 2008 ANNUAL – currently the #1 album In the country – Clubbers Guide to 2006 & 2007 and Sessions Three as well as compilations for One Love, Alfresco Soiree and Dusk at Bondi Beach.
And to cap it all off, so his mum knows where he is at least one night a week, he hosts the Ministry of Sound Sessions radio show Thursdays on Nova nationwide at 10pm.
It is currently the largest dance radio show in the southern hemisphere.
You can catch him live and in person at The Rolling Rock at the Ministry of Sound session tour on July 25.
The hardest working creative chameleon in the music business - DJ Goodwill - is heading to the Rolling Rock.
