Goodnight Nurse are back with a new album, ready to rock the Sunshine Coast.
They've been called New Zealand’s answer to Blink 182, Sum 41 and Green Day, now pop/rock band Goodnight Nurse are back with a new album, ready to rock the Sunshine Coast.
Goodnight Nurse have toured New Zealand many times and have once toured the east coast of Australia for three months during the ‘Rock the Schools’ tour, but drummer and backup vocalist Jaden Parkes said that this time, their Australian tour will be very different.
“When we came over here with our last album we realised that we really had to step it up in order to have a chance at success overseas,” he said.
He said they wanted to write a better album before they came back to Australia again.
“(New Zealand based band Evermore) are really good and I think they’ve done so well because they put the emphasis into writing good songs and that’s what we’ve done with our latest album,” he said.
“We’d love to have half the amount of success that Evermore has had in Australia, because there’s a lot of really good people (In Australia) that like music and go to shows…it’s very exciting for us to come over and be able to release our music.”
Goodnight Nurse’s previous album was energetic and fun and included a hardcore cover of Kelis’s ‘Milkshake’.
They have released their new single “The Night” which is a dynamic song, it is deeper and a little more indie and less poppy than songs from their previous album, but the energy is just as strong.
Jaden said fans can expect the same great sound on their new album which was released in Australia yesterday.
Jaden said the band are looking forward to getting out to the Sunshine Coast. “We always wanna have a good time and we don’t take stuff too seriously, we just try and play our songs really well and put on an entertaining fun show for the kids and play the songs that they’ll wanna hear,” he said.
Goodnight Nurse perform at the Sands Tavern on July 18. Call 5443 7944 for more information or check out the band online: http://www.myspace.com/goodnightnurse.
