Fatal Currimundi car accident

A man has died in a car accident at Currimundi this morning.

The accident happened near the Careen Street intersection with the Nicklin Way, just south of the Buderim Street turn-off, at about 7.15am.

Police have confirmed the man was a 65-year-old from Wurtulla.

Police said the man’s car had slammed into a power pole, killing him instantly.

It is not known at this stage if anyone else was in the car at the time of the accident.

Police, paramedics and firefighters all responded to the incident, with a section of the street is blocked off. However, there was no disruption to traffic.

Energex staff were called to secure the power pole and lines damaged by the crash.
