GAME: Speed Racer

CONSOLE: Nintendo Wii

VERDICT: 4/5

Speed Racer has no business being this much fun. I mean it’s a game based on a big budget movie which is usually a sign of a poorly made cash-in that becomes boring after just a few hours.

But somehow the creators of Speed Racer have made a solid racing game infused with stylish graphics and a well-executed combat system.

But that’s not to say that the game is flawless. For one thing it does lack a real sense of speed and the way the computer controlled racers are always on your tail, even after doing more than enough to lose them, gets very annoying.

But these problems aside Speed Racer is a surprisingly fun game that makes good use of the Wii remote, has a ton of tracks and characters to unlock and will appeal to gamers of all ages.

So forget what you know about games based on movies and give this one a chance.
