The Sunshine Coast man who posted an open party invitation on a popular internet website wants to assure the Coast he is no Corey Worthington.
Comparisons have been made between The Fat Aussie Barstard (sic) aka Peter Finn’s open invitation entitled “You Tube party at my house”, which was posted through a video last month, and teenager Corey’s open party invite which led to more than 500 people descending on his parents’ Melbourne home in January.
Mr Finn’s open invitation for a gathering at Noosaville’s Apex Park on May 31 has attracted media attention but the 47-year-old said it was all above board.
“These You Tube gatherings are held all over Australia on a fairly regular basis,” he said.
“The last big one was in Melbourne on December 1 last year. It was organised by You Tube and was advertised all over the country. It was held in a public place and we had 88 people there.
“The thing about You Tube and You Tubers is that we are a community of people who like making and watching videos. We are not thugs, not a bunch of young drunks and we are not Corey Delaneys (Worthington).’’
Mr Finn, who admitted to being a “bit popular” on the video sharing website, expected between 30 and 50 people to attend and because it was a public place, there would be no alcohol.
“What we usually do is head to a bar or pub or something afterwards,” he said.
