Teens nabbed in Dicky Beach crackdown

You can almost guarantee it wouldn’t have been a pleasant car trip back to Brisbane for a teenage girl caught trespassing at Currimundi State School on Saturday night.

The girl was one of three teens caught by police, who have stepped up patrols in the Dicky Beach area after increasing reports of teenage parties.

The park and surrounding area has become a hangout spot for teenagers, with residents reporting the gathering teens have become a public nuisance.

On Saturday night, four police crews monitored the area. Although it was comparatively a quiet night, they still discovered three teenagers trespassing at the school.

The teens are alleged to have walked up from the beach.

Two boys from the Caloundra area and a Brisbane girl were charged with trespass and their parents were called.

The girl’s father was forced to drive from Brisbane to collect her.

Caloundra police have been rostering on extra shifts to cover the area and have vowed to continue monitoring the problem.

I'm not making excuses, these kids should know better, but this article further reinforces the fact that the Sunshine Coast needs more entertainment facilites, ones that kids and non-drivers are able to get to easily and affordably. We have a couple of cinemas and bowling alleys, but that's about the best the coast has to offer...

Local council members and politicians can never seem to find fundings to improve activities or events for our local youth. Yet always seem to find extra funding for a pay rise. After all, they are worth it in their own eyes. The coast has quadrupled in population, yet entertainment or funded events for kids is non existant. Any wonder they are hanging around the streets at night.....What else is there to do. Such an enormous problem with our youth yet our politicians are too busy making sure their annual salary and purks are sufficient. there is always a solution to any given problem, but if you keep ignoring the problem, then what do you expect to happen........Simple minded politicians just dont get it. Cant wait to see what the next generation of youth will be like.

What an absolute load of bollocks!

These kids know exactly what they are doing is wrong and they just dont care.

Its time the bleeding hearts in our community left their wonder palaces in LA-LA land and walked the streets at night with us and see just what the poor understimulated youth get up to and their what their response to the law is.

By the responses i have read here all of you should have smashed everything in sight when you were the age of these kids as we had far less supplied to us in the way of facilities but we didnt did we.

Thats because we were raised by decent people and we had respect for the law and each other.

Grow up people....they have no one to blame but themselves!
