iPods all round!

Most days at 8.15am, Mrs Humphries Year 7 classroom is deserted.
But it was a different story yesterday.
Half the students were already there, anxiously huddled around the radio as they waited to hear whether all their hard work had been worth it.
A minute later they had their answer.
“We all started screaming and we were all really, really happy,” said Buderim State School student, Lincoln Dews.
“It was just exciting because we had won something really good.”
Their teacher had attracted the most number of votes in the Apple for the Teacher competition, which meant every student would receive an Apple iPOD from Kawana Betta Electrical Superstore.
Mrs Humphries would receive a computer, while another computer would go to Buderim State School.
Lincoln said Mrs Humphries was “pretty popular” with the students, and he had personally voted several times.
“She’s a great teacher and I’m really happy to be in this class.”
But Mrs Humphries seemed embarrassed by the suggestion that the win meant she was a favourite amongst the students.
“I don’t think of it as being so much about myself as all the kids pushing together to have fun and get a nice reward out of it.”
She said she had a great mix of personalities in her class this year.
“Some are very sporty, some very academic, it’s a fairly quiet class this year, not a big group of chatterboxes. They get on with their work,” she said.
“We keep talking about teamwork for camp, so this was a really good exercise to show what they can do as a team.”
After the announcement on the radio, Mrs Humphries decided not to go ahead with the regular Monday morning test.
“Everyone was just so excited we couldn’t spoil it by doing a test,” she said.
And that was quite all right with Lincoln.
“That was one of the best things... just after the iPOD,” he said.
The Apple for the Teacher competition was sponsored by the Kawana Betta Electrical Superstore, 92.7 Mix FM and the Sunshine Coast Daily.
