Three “heavily intoxicated” young men woke up with more than drinking regrets yesterday after a night on the town turned wrong in two separate incidents.
Two mates got into an argument at 2am after spending the night together drinking at the Blue Bar in Alexandra Headland.
One of the men is believed to have hit the other man, possibly forgetting he was holding his glass in the same hand, cutting his friend’s face.
The man’s friend suffered only minor injuries and after both sobered up enough to be interviewed by police yesterday, no charges were laid.
Half an hour later an ambulance was called to 240V nightclub at Mooloolaba after an alleged incident between an intoxicated patron and a security officer ended with the patron suffering a head injury.
It is believed the patron had tried to force his way into the club after lockout time.
Police are investigating the incident. The man’s injuries were minor.
Superintendent Ben Hanbidge said both incidents were isolated and, through the joint work of police and Mooloolaba business owners, assaults in the entertainment precinct had significantly decreased.
Supt Hanbidge said police would continue to work with licensed premises to ensure safety in the area.
