Drive safely today.
Police, government officials and industry groups have thrown their support behind Fatality Free Friday and today they hope all Queenslanders get home safely.
It’s a wish those who have to deal with the ramifications of crashes wake up with every day, but today they hope the message remains at the front of all drivers’ minds.
RACQ vehicle technologies manager Steve Spalding said motorists needed to ensure their vehicles were as safe as possible before heading out.
“For instance, they can check tyre pressures, including the spare, tread depths and general tyre condition,” he said.
“Headlights, indicators, wipers, washers and horn are also among the items they can easily check up on from time to time.”
He said seatbelts and child restraints were other items which should be regularly checked.
Budget Direct car insurance have also thrown their support behind the initiative by hosting a barbecue breakfast at A & G House in the Kawana Waters Business Village on Innovation Parkway with more than 300 bacon and egg burgers available to help raise funds for a young driver training program, labelled BRAKE.
Police are still as determined to rid roads of dangerous roads as ever and yesterday blitzed Caloundra motorists.
Those travelling along Caloundra Road yesterday couldn't fail to notice the police, in an operation which netted 80 offenders for speeding, driving unregistered, not wearing seatbelts, talking on a mobile and driving defective vehicles.
Police were pleased to report that none of the motorists who were pulled over tested positive for drugs or alcohol.
