12:00a.m. 17th May 2008
A Tasmanian woman was found dead in a Hyatt Coolum room yesterday morning.
Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
The 36-year-old was staying with a group for a conference.
It is believed the woman, who had coeliac disease, was drinking with a group of women from a company called Viola. She was found dead by a Hyatt Coolum housemaid about 9am yesterday morning.
Apparently the woman had fallen and impaled her chin on a bedside table.
Forensic and criminal investigation bureau police are investigating the cause of her death.
It is believed her medical condition may have caused the fall.
Senior Sergeant Sean McKay said next of kin had been notified.
“The death is by an unknown cause at this stage and we are awaiting a post-mortem,” he said.
“She was ... here on a conference; here with people from all over the country travelling together, but wasn’t with family.”
