Noosa guard fights for life

A 30-year-old security officer is fighting for his life after allegedly being stabbed near Noosa’s Rolling Rock nightclub.
Police claim a 31-year-old woman used a kitchen knife to stab the man around 2.30am yesterday.
The blade entered through the left side of his chest and is believed to have punctured several organs.
The man collapsed and was helped by co-workers and patrons from the popular Noosa nightclub.
He was rushed into surgery at Nambour Hospital, where doctors worked to repair the damage.
Yesterday he was in a serious but stable condition but may require further surgery.
The Maroochydore woman was detained by security officers at the scene until police arrived.
She has been held in the Maroochydore watchouse and will face Maroochydore Magistrates Court today on charges of unlawful wounding and intending to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege that the woman went to the area because of a perceived grievance with the security officer from the night before.
Witnesses told police the woman approached the victim outside the Hastings Street venue and the two had a short conversation.
It is believed she became agitated and took a knife from her handbag which she allegedly used to stab the security officer.
It is the second violent act involving Noosa nightclub security officers in as many weeks.
Police investigations are still continuing into an incident in which an 18-year-old Mudjimba teen had to have surgery to pin broken bones in his right leg after allegedly being pushed in front of an unmarked police vehicle by a 21-year-old security officer outside the Reef Hotel on May 10.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Noosa yesterday, a 26-year-old Tewantin man was charged with escaping custody after he allegedly absconded from the watch house around 5am.
The man had been arrested for allegedly assaulting and obstructing officers.
He was found again around 10am and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today. Investigations into the incident will be overseen by the Ethical Standards Command.

The woman was 31 years old - not youth. She had not been (reportedly) drinking at the premises, so their licensing hours have no relevance - the alleged incident could just as easily have occurred at 7:45pm.
As for this incident, while I think there are many thugs in the 'security' industry I don't know this victim, nor am I suggesting he is one. Even for those of them who are there, I don't think they deserve to be attacked for their actions.
