A Sunshine Coast grandfather is off on an overseas holiday to visit his son after winning a $600,000 first division prize in Gold Lotto on Saturday night.
The unidentified retiree will also use some of the money to look after his family.
He was unaware of his win until he dropped into the NewsXpress Eumundi to check his entry.
“The money couldn’t have come at a better time,” the winner said.
The winning first division ticket, the first sold at the newsagency in the 10 years that Manni Ribeiro has owned the store, seems to have broken the drought.
Mr Ribeiro said he was not only celebrating the first division win, but also a second division win of $13,599.50 for another one of his customers.
“It was definitely a winning weekend for us,” Mr Ribeiro said.
The Sunshine Coast man was one of three Queenslanders to win a first division prize on the weekend.
The winning numbers were 15, 10, 1, 28, 6 and 39. The supplementary numbers were 43 and 5.
The win followed a $200,000 Scratch-Its windfall for a Caboolture grandmother last week.
The unnamed woman splurged on her family.
