Political party One Nation is already canvassing potential Sunshine Coast candidates for next year’s state election.
One Nation state executive member Peter Wise, who yesterday was meeting with a potential Coast candidate, said the number of candidates and where they would stand across Queensland had not been finalised.
“We don’t anticipate choosing candidates for every seat but we will definitely be fielding One Nation candidates in the next state election,” he said.
Mr Wise, who on Saturday hosted One Nation’s annual general meeting, at Wises Farm in Maroochydore, said the party was “buoyed” by renewed interest in its philosophies, including protecting Australian jobs and the Australian lifestyle.
“People are getting pretty nervous about the world economy and life in Australia,” he said. “They start to hurt, start to look for answers and start to doubt the ones running the show.
“We believe we’re in for a major recession in Australia and as people start to hurt, we’re feeling it in One Nation already with renewed interest in the party.”
Mr Wise said key issues raised at Saturday’s meeting included globalisation, recycled drinking water and the Traveston dam proposal.
“We’re pretty buoyed up that our policies have been correct all along,” he said.
“We believe we’re starting to be vindicated now that globalisation hasn’t worked in Australia’s interests.
“We’re 100% against this outrageous recycling of sewage. We don’t believe it’s necessary at this point in time.
“It could be a total Armageddon last resort, but it should be held in limbo until then. We’re also dead against the Traveston dam.
“One avenue they should look at is tapping water before it runs into the sea off Fraser Island.”

They're not as 'scarey' as the media and opposition parties make them out to be. In fact, a lot of them are very reasonable, rational, fair and most importantly, not racist or bigoted.
I was copying snippets from their policy document but there were way too many to put here.
I encourage people to go read it for themselves. http://www.onenation.com.au/Policy%20doc...
Some things to look for:
How they classify aboriginals. (Search for "Some tribes ate human flesh")
Abolish the Racial Discrimination Act
Moslems.. they are running rampant raping our women and are terrorists. (please note this is all acording to them)
Global warming is a myth and a scam
85% of us want a white Australia policy (yeah right!)
Schools should all be based on Christian values
Trade agreements being abolishes and politicians charged with treason
We should all be allowed to have guns to defend ourselves
Homosexuals are attacking the idea of family
Please read the whole policy document if you have even the slightest inclination of supporting these people.
Here they have brazenly put their cynical view that when the going gets tough we will look around for targets on which to take out our frustrations, and One Nation will once again be ready to point the finger - at immigrants, racial minorities and anyone else who looks vulnerable.
Of course globalisation has worked in Australia's favour. We have never enjoyed such prosperity, with an abundance of quality imports from China at prices kept low by a dollar kept strong by China's demand for our coal and iron keeping unemployment down and wages up, with the recently sacked Howard Government having to to do little but put its hands on some theatrical props labeled "economic levers".
And, if China keeps its act together and spends some its vast surplus on infrastructure development to see it through this rough patch, we are much better placed to ride it out than if we had the kind of insular economy of One Nation's dreams - and the nightmares of the rest of us.
