Tewantin Noosa Cricket Club couldn’t have asked for a better start to their quest to right the wrongs of the previous season.
The introduction of a few new faces, including a couple of promising juniors, seemed to do the trick when the Thunder faced Glasshouse at home in the first week of round one action.
Chris Wright came agonisingly close to notching a tonne at the crease for the Thunder, only to be dismissed for 94.
The Thunder finished their innings all out for 265 and have Glasshouse on the ropes at 5 for 55.
The action continues this weekend at Read Park Tewantin.
The seconds have taken a commanding lead, finishing the day’s play with an overall lead of 65 runs.
Add the pace of Nathan Williams to the wiles of Alex Haigh, and with some more of Wright’s determination at the crease, the Thunder could easily lift their game this season.
