Great timing and good management saw Laurie Stevens get into the IT business in the ’80s and telecommunications in the ’90s.
Five years into the new millennium, Laurie and his wife Lorraine and two sons made a decision to leave big business and a UK address to enjoy the quality of a Noosa lifestyle.
Laurie has owned Pelican Boat Hire at Noosaville for three years now and believes it’s time to take on another role – as newly elected Noosaville Association president.
He has also nominated for a directorship on the Noosa Tourism board.
“After three years, it’s not like I just stepped in, I’ve got a feel for the area,” Laurie said.
He brings to the table his marketing and business experience along with ideas and viewpoints gleaned from a good deal of international travel.
Laurie said that when it came to Noosaville and Noosa “the power of one and one makes three” and they should be marketed together.
He said the strength of the association comes from its membership, which includes a committee of 13, together with events and marketing subcommittees.
“We will be reviewing the direction of the association, particularly in regard to events," he said.
