The carnival season is upon us, and Sunshine Beach Nippers were at it again last Saturday week with Brock Redwood, Alex Nolan, Charlotte Nolan, Ashlea DeCent and Rohani Bakach heading south to tackle the dolphin classic at Northcliffe.
These nippers performed outstandingly, with Charlotte and Brock picking up second places in the surf swim, and Rohani also runner-up in the 2km beach run.
Alex and Ashlea also performed brilliantly with a third and a fourth respectively in the surf swim, and a fourth and a fifth respectively in the board race.
All five showed they are in good touch for the journey north this weekend to the now traditional Rainbow Beach carnival.
Club Sunday nippers has also welcomed onboard a new under-9s manager for this season, with “Captain Coffee” Gabe Cerasani taking on this age group.
Gabe has three kids in nippers and is following the lead of his wife, Christina, who is an age manager for the under 6/7s.
A huge thanks to Jo Redwood, who filled the void in the under 9s. Her commitment to nippers never ceases to amaze the club.
Last Friday’s board training took on a sombre mood as the nippers bid a sad farewell to outgoing Noosa aquatic centre head swim coach Heather Klieve, who attended the session.
Heather was presented with gifts and a certificate as thanks for her sterling efforts with the nippers in the past two years.
Heather, who had never seen surf prior to coming to Noosa, really embraced the cultures of surf lifesaving and nippers at Sunshine Beach, and also helped out with last year’s charity swim preparations.
Heather’s unwavering support of the nippers during her time at the NAC and her commitment to the kids were outstanding, and the club wishes her every success in her future endeavours.
